Michiko to Hatchin

In an effort to get myself to finish Michiko to Hatchin, I decided to do a few gifs. The opening’s definitely one of my favourite openings ever if not for Soil & “Pimp” Sessions’ song “Paraiso” being the OP song. And for fucks sake, guys, at least keep the show’s name on it if you reblog because it gets kinda irritating seeing people reblog others asking WHAT SHOW IS THIS? WUT IS DIS FROM??? You can knock everything else off, I don’t care, but please just leave the name? This show deserves more recognition and I’d love for people to give it a shot.

Accurate. One of the best anime I have seen in a long time.

It temporarily satiated my Cowboy Bebop/Samurai Champloo fix

And the main villain was awesome, very down to Earth

Nothing pisses me off more than when anime fans claim Osamu Tezuka’s artwork is outdated or that his cartoony style is a detractor

Stuff found in every single anime opening sequence EVER

A guy named Derek Lieu (kickintheheadcomic) edited clips from various anime openings in order to create this one video. The result? A compilation of the most seen sequences in anime openings. The end product left me in amazement and amusement.

Most used sequences in order of appearance:

  • Bird/s flying past a scenery
  • Panning of scenery from bottom to top OR right to left
  • Zooming into the eye of a character
  • Running segment (usually to the left)
  • The head turning
  • Showing of naked body
  • Sitting looking at the distance
  • Wind blowing against the hair
  • Grouping of characters at one go
  • Battle clashes
  • Shaking/blurring screen
  • Characters simply walking
  • Showing two sets of people in opposite ways
  • Flying scenes or rushing towards screen
  • Crying segements or Important balls of light/energy
  • Bits of inanimate objects passing through the scene
  • Reaching out hands
  • Appearance of people when a person awakes

Does your favorite anime have one of these sequences?

It’s beautiful

I was at school today, so naturally my thoughts were of anything but the actual work I have to do- which led me to thinking about End of Evangelion, which scared the crap out of me as a kid. So I decided to pick up my brothers Evangelion DVDs because I realized i’d never actually watched the entire thing. And then it snowballed from there and I started thinking about all the cool anime I loved growing up and I started thinking about .hack//sign and cowboy bebop.

Now I can’t sleep because I want to watch Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion and .hack//sign at the same time when I should be studying.

.hack was quite the phenomenon in my life, though. They started showing it on Cartoon Network when I was 11, I think. This was not like normal cartoons, it was subtle and introspective, with this amazing soundtrack. How can you go back to saturday morning cartoons after that?

Also Cowboy Bebop, the last three or four episodes are probably my single favorite episodes of anything ever. I could literally watch the last ten minutes on loop and never get bored.
